About Me

A Work in Progress

As a musician in southern New Hampshire, I fell in with, naturally enough, other musicians. T. H. Smith, or Hunt, was making violins in his new workshop. I became interested, and he would invite me by to talk about philosophy, quantum physics, art, music, tea, and other things related to violin making. He told me where to get books on the subject, as well as tools and supplies. This was my education. I have not been apprenticed to anyone, Cremonese or otherwise. I have never gone to any of the three full time schools of violin making in the States. My work is constantly improving thanks to trying and testing ideas, and learning as much as I can from any source that I can find.

I strive to make violins that sound good to me. My instruments project well. They have depth and power. But ultimately the only thing I know for sure is that I enjoy playing them more than any other instruments that I've come across. My own tastes certainly don't align perfectly with everyone in the world, nor should they; but if my violins sound good to you too, I want you to have one.
